The Convention Key
Background
The Convention Key is the highest award given to any frater in Tau Delta Phi. The Convention Key was designed by Simon A. Levinson, A '18 as a making a watch charm for himself. Shortly after creating the key, a brother from Simon's chapter, Joseph Aronstram, was leaving New York to return home in Michigan. A banquet was aranged in his honor and the committee planning the banquet wanted to present Joseph with a gift. Simon then recommended the watch charm he created.
Soon after, the National Fraternity agreed that the Convention Key should be used as the highest award that any frater may receive in the Fraternity. It is bestowed to a frater who displays meritorious service and self-sacrifice to Tau Delta Phi.
