What are the cost of AMFs and when are they due?

AMFs are $100 per active brother per semester. They are due November 1st and March 1st respectively.

How long will it take to receive my membership materials?

Membership materials are ordered each semester specifically for the brothers initiated that semester. Items are made to order. Orders are placed once all initation forms for a given semester are received. Please contact the Grand Quaestor for more specifics.

Do we need to attend any trainings or seminars?

Every year there are several trainings, seminars, and other chapter services which the National Fraternity run. In the case of the Consuls Dinner, all chapter Consuls must be in attendance. For the Neophyte Training Session, all neophytes for the prior year must attend. Other sessions that the Fraternity runs have a specific purpose and are geared towards a target audience.

Why should I (my son) join Tau Delta Phi?

Tau Delta Phi offers you (your son) over ninety years of tradition, a learning that develops outside of the classroom in the social setting, and a learning that comes from running one's own franchise of a National Tradition. Founded in 1910, Tau Delta Phi has over the years had many great men walk through the doors of her chapter houses, including: Sammy Davis, Jr; Vice-President Hubert Humphrey; Congressmen (such as Rep. Herb Klein of NJ); elected officials (such as Mayor Ted Taukus); Jerry Stiller, Len Berman, and many more! We like to think that we helped develop these men, and that we can do the same for you (your son)!

How much does it cost to join Tau Delta Phi?

The initiation cost is $250 for membership. And, it is $100 for membership to National every semester you are (your son is) an undergraduate. The Initiation Fee covers the reference manual, pledge pin, membership certificate, membership shingle, the Badge of Tau Delta Phi, and contributes towards the Fraternity's general liability insurance. The semesterly AMF covers funding for chapter services and contributes to the general operating expenses of the Fraternity, including insurance.

Does being a part of Tau Delta Phi require a lot of time?

You (Your son) will put into the experience what you (he) get(s) out of it. While we encourage you (your son) to donate you (his) time to the Fraternity, you are (he is) of course only required to give a little time each week to this experience.

What is meant by pledging, and does it involve hazing?

While many other fraternities have given up on the word "pledging" (because to them it denotes something negative), for us pledging is a positive experience! It is the opportunity for the new member to learn the qualities of teamwork as he works on artistic projects with his fellow new members, to learn about the fraternity, and to judge if he wants to become an initiate of Tau Delta Phi.

Further, hazing is never a part of pledging, and if you think you are (your son is) being abused by one of our chapters or colonies, please contact the national office as soon as possible.

What impact will joining Tau Delta Phi have on my (sons) academics?

We hope it has no negative impact at all. In fact, many members report a higher GPA during pledging, and the fraternity has a national monitoring and study program in place to help you (your son) during pledging, and if your (his) grades are hurting when he is a brother.

What opportunities does Tau Delta Phi provide?

Tau Delta Phi provides the chance for you (your son) to lead in the Fraternity chapter, and gain the experience of educational leadership. Further, you (your son) will learn teamwork through daily life in your (his) chapter, and finally you (he) will learn to deal with diverse personality types.
